18 Week ultrasound tonight and finding out baby's gender?

In Canada, the ultrasound tech and doctors are not allowed to tell the parents the gender of the baby, but some couples do find out.

How can I ask the ultrasound tech if its a boy or girl and what can I say to convince her to tell us.
Thanks for the answers so far. Its very weird, I live in BC. Two doctors have told me now that they are not allowed to tell the *** of the baby. They say that in some “cultures” the parents will abort if its not a boy. Well, I don’t belong in any minority groups.
